Return to wrestling for 2021 is a mixed and uncertain bag.

The Corona-19 virus has had devastating effects on the country, the state, and high school sports. As we enter the last week of 2020 we would have expected to see a number of duals and tournaments already that have taken place. So far none of that has taken place as both the private schools and public schools have suspended or delayed the beginning of the winter sports season. The MPSSAA has set a winter sports season that can begin with practice and conditioning from February 1-21; and have a competition season from February 22 to March 27. Individual counties however are following their own reopening guidelines.

AS of December 22, 2020

The MIAA still has no plan to begin a winter sports season.

Howard County has tentative plans to begin on January 4, 2021
Carroll County has allowed practices to begin on Dec 14, and competition to begin on January 5.
Cecil County: As part of the closure of all CCPS schools and offices that began November 16th, CCPS athletics will be suspended until further notice. Athletic programs will be addressed as part of the re-opening plan and will be dependent upon Cecil County’s COVID-19 metrics under the advisement of the Cecil County Health Department.
Anne Arundel County can begin meeting virtually with coaches on December 7
Montgomery County does not anticipate returning to in person learning and athletics to begin until Feb1, 2021 based on their own standards. (wrestling may be provided later in the school year)
Frederick County plans to begin practice on December 7, competition on January 4th and have the season end on Feb 13, 2021. It will be only an inter county dual meet season according to their own guidelines.
Washington County has allowed virtual conditioning starting December 7, with virtual practices beginning December 14
Allegheny County:  The MPSSAA winter sports season for Allegany County Public Schools athletics will begin Monday, December 7, 2020, with student-athletes taking part in virtual workouts and virtual practices. When local health metrics allow, we will begin in-person workouts, try-outs and practices.
Garrett County: The Garrett County Board of Education voted at the December 8, 2020, meeting to have all GCPS students remain in a fully-virtual learning format through the end of the first semester, January 26, 2021. There will be no sports and extra-curricular activities during this time. The school board will further discuss the return to school plans, the availability of adequate staffing, and county health metrics at the January 12, 2021, meeting.
Wicomico County: Will follow the MPSSAA plan for winter sports.
